Project Development
Creating a body of work is by some measures the pinnacle of a photographer’s work. And it’s also a difficult process to navigate on one’s own. Through email exchanges, video-conferencing calls, and/or phone calls, we’ll work together to help you hone the vision and voice behind the project you are working on. This could include polishing your concept, suggestions on how to overcome specific hurdles during production phase, image selection, tips on processing and presentation, and sequencing. I’m here to help you make the best choices that suit your creative vision.

Contests and Grants
Contests and grants applications are wonderful ways to gain exposure in the field and to help fund future projects. Often these opportunities have applications that require submitting small selections of a larger body of work, abbreviated project statements and bios, and a little bit of rethinking your content in order to meet the organization’s requirements. With 28 years in the business of creating successful grant, exhibition, and contest applications, I will assist you in creating the best presentation of your materials.

Artist Statements, Project Statements and Bios
In today’s photography world—fine art, documentary, and beyond—these written aspects of your works are almost as important as the photographs. And whether you are a seasoned author or not, writing can be one of the hardest challenges to confront. I’m here to help you break the writer’s block, find your voice and developing your writing so that it is equally as strong as your photography.

Book Introductions
Over the years I have written book and exhibition introductions for various photographers. As opposed to my consulting work where I help a photographer with their writing, this is an opportunity to hire me to provide an introductory essay for your work to help contextualize the photographs for the viewer. If interested in working with me in this capacity, we would first meet for a 15-30 minute discussion to make sure each of us feels I am the right fit for the project.

Workshops
Occasionally I run small workshops through video conferencing (Zoom) geared toward project development. These are intensive eight-week courses in which participants are creating work, engaging in critique, working on project statements and honing the message of their photography.
